Brevard Jazz Series Update - January,
2008 |
A NOTE FROM
ROLAND - Happy
New Year, everybody!!
And what a way to start
2008! Chris Botti
ROCKED!!! Chris, his
backup back, the sound,
the show...wow! If you
didn't make the show you
missed one of the top
three jazz shows of this
past year. My book says
#1. I'd like to thank
Sabrina for joining Eric
Young on stage to
welcome the audience. We
were happy to have her
as our guest after
several years of being
away from Brevard. I
hope she will consider
coming home soon.
Just 21 more days before
Justin and I come home
to Brevard.
Massachusetts is giving
us a real fare well with
plenty of snow, ice and
temperatures in the
single digits. We say
goodbye to some very
caring people who've
made Justin's and my
life in Massachusetts
just a little more sane.
My deepest appreciation
and thanks to my son's
great aunt and my
neighbor, Joanne Ferin
and her husband Bruce.
They looked after
Justin, my home, our cat
Bella, and all our
aquariums during the
many trips I took to
Florida. I don't know
what I would have done
without them. I'll miss
them very much. To
Renee, Lauren, Berry,
John, Tim, and Michelle
- thank you for
including me in your
families and making MA
feel like home. And to
my adopted kids, Sophia,
Simon, Jake, Maxie, and
Maia - you've changed my
life. Thank you all so,
so much for connecting
with Justin, for making
him a part of your lives
and for allowing me to
play, play, play with
you guys and making me
feel like a kid. I love
you all! Justin and I
will miss you every day,
but know that our new
home in Florida is also
yours any time you wish
to visit us. Last but
certainly not least, to
my Andrea; there may be
distance between us, but
you'll always be close
to my heart....
Enjoy the update!!

Canaveral. Sail date is
February 13, 2009. We'll
be looking for ya!!
Some other
thoughts on our
cruise & disturbing
rumors:
During my recent
visit to Florida to
work the Chris Botti
concert I was made
aware that there are
business entities
and individuals in
Brevard spreading
very disturbing
rumors about the
JazzSeries, Travel
By Ginny, the
Florida Smooth Jazz
Foundation and The
Florida Smooth Jazz
Cruise. It saddens
me that anyone with
decency would speak
such trash.
Rather than lower
myself to their
level, I'd like to
simply say that our
reputation speaks
for itself . The
Brevard Jazz Series
is celebrating it's
15th year
anniversary of
promoting national
artists and concerts
in Brevard. We are
one of a very few
promoting companies
that has a
successful 12 plus
years partnership
with the Maxwell C.
King Center For The
Performing Arts, the
best entertainment
venue in Brevard
county and
considered one of
the top three
performing arts
centers in Florida.
We introduced
smooth jazz to
Brevard via WLRQ's
Lite Jazz Brunch 16
years ago this year
when it was the
called "contemporary
jazz". I'm happy
to say that the
radio show is still
on the air and
consistently comes
in as one of the top
three shows in
Brevard on Sunday
mornings. And we
work successfully,
hand in hand, with
many Brevard
businesses such as
the Holiday Inn
hotel chain, Crowne
Plaza hotels, Hilton
hotels, WLRQ radio,
WFIT radio, WLOQ
radio in Orlando,
Florida Today, The
Orlando Sentinel,
and Brevard Live
just to name a few.
More importantly, we
are open to,
and welcome new
partnerships with
Brevard business. We
do what we say we
do. We don't "bait n
switch", we don't
cancel and uncancel
events, we don't
sensationalize, we
don't do business in
the "gray areas".
I am very proud of
the Florida Smooth
Jazz Cruise. It's
taken over two years
of planning and
negotiating, but it
will be well worth
it. We know it's not
the only cruise out
there, but it will
be the best smooth
jazz cruise in our
area. We are going
to give you what BJS
has always given
you; the best of the
best in national
smooth jazz
entertainment. Russ
Freeman & the
Rippingtons, Jeff
Kashiwa and Paul
Taylor are top
professionals that
WILL give us three
unforgettable shows
and lots of fun,
laughter and a
memorable cruise. A
cruise package worth
many times the
current cruise
prices.
The staff of Travel
By Ginny, the staff
at the Florida
Smooth Jazz
Foundation, my staff
and I feel that we
should not have to
spend time defending
ourselves from
unsubstantiated
rumors and
innuendos. Again,
our record speaks
for itself. But
there are times when
we can't just "look
the other way."
I would personally
like to invite you
and your family to
cruise with us and
our families. The
2009 Florida Smooth
Jazz Valentines
Cruise is now
officially OPEN FOR
BUSINESS! Call
Daphne at Travel By
Ginny and grab your
cabin NOW!

ON A PERSONAL
NOTE - I was
truly saddened when I
heard and read the very
ugly and untrue comments
written about me and BJS.
As I said before, BJS
will NOT lower itself to
such a low level of
business practice. What
this company and I are
excited and thankful
about is that Justin and
I are finally coming
home to stay. And that
BJS will now be able to
expand and offer even
more concerts and
events.
I hope that 2008
brings you and your
families all the joy
and happiness that
Justin and I feel in
being able to finally
come home. I look
forward to reconnecting
with you, not just
saying a quick hello at
the concerts. And Justin
is looking for new
friends. So if you have
a son or daughter who's
around 12 years old and
enjoys making new
friends, please consider
having them connect with
Justin. He loves the
outdoors, plays baseball
& basketball and loves
music,
sailing, racquetball,
and the parent dreaded
video games! We hope we
hear from you.
Thanks again for
reading
our update. Thank you
for your continued
support of our efforts
to bring THE
best in live national
entertainment to
Brevard! Please tell a
friend about BJS. I look
forward to being back
home the first weekend
of next month! If you're
on-line, drop me a line
and say hello! Remember,
we are here for you and
because of you.
